The Military Museums Foundation (TMMF) acknowledges and respects the educational programs, events, and other activities we create are delivered on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy, consisting of the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations, the Tsuut’ina, and the Îyâxe Stoney Nakoda Nations, consisting of the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Good Stoney Bands. We also recognize the Métis people of Alberta Region 3, who call Treaty 7 their home.
TMMF recognizes that providing equality of opportunity, welcoming diversity, and promoting a culture of inclusion is integral to ensuring we can maximize our impact and achieve our core purpose.
As such, we commit to continuous improvement in the following areas:
- Our board, staff, and volunteers all abide by and are engaged in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) issues and accountable for achieving the EDI objectives of TMMF.
- Our educational programs represent the regional and national communities we serve.
- When telling the stories and history of marginalized groups, we will do our best to consult members of those groups and look for opportunities to partner on program delivery.
- Our program delivery uses inclusive language to create a welcoming and safe space for all students or others participating in our programs.
- Equality is embedded in all our activities, policies, and decisions, and we will work with our partners to share good practices.
By committing to creating working and learning environments where everyone is enthusiastically welcomed and in which individuals can utilize their skills and talents to their utmost without fear of prejudice, judgement, or harassment, we will build a culture where everyone can reach their fullest potential. Doing so will allow for better program delivery to all our audiences, thereby supporting our mission to “Ensure Remembrance Through Education.”
