Does your group meet in the evening or on the weekend?
The Military Museums Foundation offers evening and weekend programming for Scouts, Guides and other groups wishing to visit outside regular operating hours. For younger groups, we recommend booking two programs for a 1.5-hour evening. For older groups, you are welcome to select three programs, which makes for a 2-hour evening.
Our evening programs cost $13.50 per youth, with a minimum booking requirement of 10 participants. One free adult for every ten youth; all additional adults will cost $10.50 per person.
PROGRAM LISTINGS
Anchors Aweigh
Recommended for grades K-3; pairs well with Boats and Buoyancy
Ahoy! This program explores the life of a sailor during the Battle of the Atlantic. From the smelly mess deck to the eerie wheelhouse, learners will discover the trials and responsibilities of those working through the RCN's most extended battle.
Artifact Handling
Please touch the artifacts! Students will be lent a pair of white curatorial gloves and instructed in safe handling methods before being given a chance to interact with artifacts from the Great War to the conflict in Afghanistan.
Boats and Buoyancy
Recommended for grades K-3; pairs well with Anchors Aweigh
This program introduces learners to the basics of buoyancy through scientific experimentation. Using what they have learned, can they figure out how the massive ships in the Royal Canadian Navy stay afloat? What about submarines?
Time to Explore
Do you want to see the museums at your own pace? Add "time to explore" to the end of your programming night--or spend the whole night exploring if you wish!
Tours
From tours highlighting specific concepts of interest to a general tour of your interpreter's favourite stories, let us guide you through the museums after hours!
Understanding Remembrance
This is our quintessential Remembrance program. From the moment the guns fell silent on 11 November 1918 to how we embody memory today, participants will explore the legacy of the Great War in Canada. Younger groups will concentrate on more tangible aspects of remembrance, while older groups will explore the concept in a deeper historical context.
Wartime Women
Written with Girl Guide programming in mind but open to all learners, this tour explores the biographies of compelling Canadian women in wartime.
All bookings with The Military Museums Foundation are subject to our terms and conditions.
